Nine Years on Academy Road: A Little Grace & Co. Nostalgia

As the August long weekend rolls in, I’ve been flipping through old photos from our nine years on Academy Road, and it’s hard to put into words what that chapter meant to me.

A collage of four images from Grace and Company: A festive in-store holiday display with hanging greenery, red berries, and seasonal tableware. Three women smiling and posing together inside the shop. A wide-angle view of a holiday-themed retail display filled with ceramic mugs, tea sets, and wrapped gifts. The open trunk of a car filled with white gift boxes tied with green and white ribbon, ready for delivery.

That space was more than a shop. It was a place where I got to meet so many of you in person — helping pick out the perfect wedding gift, chatting about travel plans, or arranging blooms for a display in the front window. Friendships were formed there. Registries came to life there. It was a warm, welcoming hub that felt like a little pocket of Europe tucked right into Winnipeg.

A collage of four images from Grace and Company: A smiling woman standing behind a styled retail display featuring apples, wine bottles, and glassware. Close-up of Grace and Company recipe cards for preserved lemon pasta and sugar cookies, styled on a white cloth. A bright, inviting shop interior with carefully curated home goods, baskets, and serveware. A group of young children in pastel clothing gathered under a blooming tree in a grassy field.

While Grace & Co. is now fully online, my hope is that the same essence remains. Every piece we carry still reflects that curated, collected feel. The journals I write are my way of keeping those conversations going, sharing travel stories, garden updates, and the details behind the products we bring in.

Whether you were a regular on Academy or recently discovered our online shop, thank you for being part of this journey. This community has shaped Grace & Co. into what it is today.

If you’re in the mood to browse, I’ve gathered a few special pieces, this French market bag, these beautiful napkins, and these locally made charcuterie boards.

Warmly,
Dorothy
